Under a microscope, you can see that clippers crush rather than cut, using force to fracture or tear the nail. Cutting your nails too short makes it hard for the nail plate to stay adhered to the nail bed. There should be a sliver of white at the end of your nails. Don’t cut your nails too short, it can damage the skin under your fingernail!

Nails have two curves, a transverse curve and a longitudinal curve. We tested hundreds of prototypes until we achieved our ideal double radii blade to match the human nail. We intentionally removed the file hook, so you won’t be tempted to dig under the nail, which widens the gap between the nail plate and nail bed and leaves you vulnerable to fungal and bacterial infections. EDJY stainless steel
EDJY blades are made of a proprietary cold-rolled, martensitic stainless steel that is custom rolled to our precise specifications. Our blade is then precision stamped, heat treated and then finished to add corrosion resistance. EDJY's proprietary ceramic blade treatment smooths the stainless steel before the blade in the EDJYnator (grind & polish machine).
EDJY precision blade
Our blade edge is called the CurvED-Je. Pronounced "curved edge." EDJY precision grinds and polishes our blade edges in a custom-made and proprietary process utilizing three custom-made high-tech grinding stations operating on both the inside and outside of our edge. This blade geometry helps draw your clipping into the EDJY cavity instead of shooting it across your [bathroom]. Then the blade edge is polished on both sides insuring that it's the best in the industry - by far.
EDJY molded parts
EDJY's molded parts are made from a truly remarkable high-performance engineering grade polymer typically used for metal replacement parts in under-the-hood automotive applications. EDJY's molded parts are impervious to chemicals, are UV protected, and have been tested beyond 150,000 cycles with virtually no wear or change in properties.
EDJY spring
EDJY's spring is stamped from aerospace grade stainless, spring steel. The elasticity in this spring will remain effective for an ~unlimited period of time given the gauge, loads and deflection that are required.
EDJY pins
EDJY's stainless steel pins are custom made for us in Illinois and are passivated to minimize corrosion. The pins are then custom formed across the EDJY nail cutter using modern, USA-made technology to insure that the mechanism stays aligned forever.

Does the EDJY Fingernail Cutter work for toenails?
Not really. The EDJY Fingernail Cutter is designed for use on fingernails. The gap is smaller and the radii are tighter to better fit fingernail anatomy. For best results on toenails, we recommend the EDJY Toenail Cutter, which is designed to handle thicker, flatter toenails while offering improved visibility when trimming toes.
Can I cut polish without chipping?
Yes! While we aren't able to test every possible product or situation, we've extensively tested EDJY with various nail polishes and have found that it consistently cuts cleanly through polish without chipping.
What if my dexterity is limited?
Then EDJY is for you! Creating a more ergonomic product was a fundamental design goal and it's the reason that EDJY is larger than a traditional clipper. The size and the decrease in force required to cut your nail make EDJY easier to use for individuals with limited dexterity.
Does EDJY work for thick nails?
Absolutely! EDJY is designed to handle all nail types, from thick to delicate, ensuring a smooth and precise cut every time.
Does this work for brittle nails?
You bet! Since our sharp blade cleanly cuts down through your nail it greatly reduces any opportunity for brittle nails to crack or split.
Do you ship outside of the US?
Currently we are only distributing our products in the United States. We plan on opening up international shipping in the future. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions on the timing of international shipping destinations.
