Introducing the EDJY Toenail Cutter

Meet the Newest Member of the EDJY Family

At EDJY, we focus on the details most people overlook. That mindset led us to rethink how fingernails are cut, and now it’s led us to your feet.

Fingernails and toenails are not the same. Toenails are oftentimes thicker, flatter, and harder to reach. Yet most tools treat them as interchangeable. We don’t.

The EDJY Toenail Cutter was engineered specifically for the anatomy of your toes. It isn’t adapted from a fingernail tool, and it isn’t based on clipper designs that have barely changed in over a century.

Why a Specialized Toenail Cutter?

Traditional clippers rely on two opposing jaws that press through the nail. That pressure can leave rough edges and create unnecessary stress on thicker toenails.

Toenails require a wider cutting gap, flatter blade geometry, and better visibility during trimming. Rather than scaling up our original cutter, we redesigned this tool from the ground up to solve those specific challenges.

What Makes It Different

Both EDJY tools use our single-blade cutting technology, but the Toenail Cutter includes several purpose-built upgrades:

  • A wider cutting gap to accommodate thicker nails
  • A flatter double-radii blade that better matches toenail curvature
  • A shorter, retracting lever for improved top-down visibility
  • A larger, ergonomically curved body for easier reach

The retracting lever was a deliberate choice. Clear visibility matters when trimming toes, where angles are harder to manage. Shortening the lever improves your sightline and control, and because of that design decision, the Toenail Cutter catches fewer clippings than our Fingernail Cutter. For foot care, we prioritized accuracy and visibility.

Designed with Nail Health in Mind

The EDJY Toenail Cutter was developed in collaboration with a dermatologist to support healthier trimming and help reduce the risk of ingrown nails. Its compound-curve blade mirrors the natural shape of toenails, while the flatter double radii promote a straighter trim line and help prevent the over-curving that can lead to ingrowns.

At the center of the design is a single, precision-hardened blade that slices cleanly through the nail rather than compressing it. This produces a smooth edge without splitting or cracking, reducing the peeling and roughness that can trap debris and irritate surrounding skin.

Improved visibility from the retracting lever enhances control while trimming. Clear sightlines make it easier to maintain a straight cut, and the refined blade geometry reduces unnecessary pressure along the nail edges.

Built with Purpose

Every EDJY Toenail Cutter is manufactured in Ann Arbor, Michigan, using high-grade materials throughout the entire build process.

The blade is stamped from European stainless tool steel and hardened to over 60+ HRC. It is then quench-hardened, cryotreated, and double-tempered to balance hardness with durability. This is the same level of metallurgy used in premium cutting tools designed for precision.

Our compound curve blade is ground and polished using a proprietary multi-stage process to create a sharp, controlled cutting edge that requires minimal force.

The molded components are made from high-performance engineering-grade polymers commonly used in automotive applications. They are UV-protected, chemically resistant, and tested beyond 150,000 cycles. The spring is stamped from aerospace-grade stainless steel, and our stainless pins are custom manufactured in Illinois and passivated to reduce corrosion.

Every material was chosen for performance and longevity.

Each tool is backed by a Lifetime Warranty and built to deliver consistent performance for years of regular use.
